Served in the West African Frontier Force in Nigeria for over four years Promoted Lieutenant Was home on leave when war began and immediately relinquished the remainder and volunteered for field service with his regiment. Rejoined the 1st Buffs at Fermoy , Ireland Proceeded with them to France Killed in action whilst leading his platoon at Bois Grenier and was originally buried near Radinghem Ridge. The previous day he had distinguished himself by carrying several wounded out of the trenches under fire. |
