Son of Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Leitch, of Eastfield, Mossley Hill, Liverpool
He came to Southgate House (Hawkins’) Winchester College (1906-11) from Dunchurch Hall and was a House Prefect and in Sixth Book.
At school he developed a gift for music
He was a good pianist and in his earlier years sang some of the alto solos in Glee Club.

At the outbreak of war he was gazetted to the Liverpool Scottish (10th Battalion King’s Liverpool Regiment) and specialised in machine-gunnery.
Joined the 1st Battalion of the King’s Liverpool Regiment in Flanders and was placed in command of the machine-gun section.
Killed in action, during the fighting around Hill 60, south of Ypres.
As Leitch’s battalion was not directing involved in the fighting, it is probable that he was caught by shelling
